Kavon Brown was inspired by his 3 uncles (The Brown Boys) who were singing gospel trios at family gatherings as long as he can remember. Kavon was also inspired by a local group called the Touch Of Class, they would rehearse in the apartment below him in the Alexander Hamilton projects and young Kavon would sneak and listen to them through the radiator opening in his room. He started singing 2 years out of high school doing church ensembles and wedding ceremonies. He later began performing in Night Clubs and hotels throughout NJ with various bands. “K” as he’s known, has performed in numerous Gospel bands including “Agape Force” who appeared at Carnegie Hall as finalists in the McDonald Gospel Fest. His recording credits include lead vocals in a duet of Shalimar’s song “Night To Remember” which was released in Japan. In 1996 he was signed to Rick Wake’s label “W &R Music Group” a division of Sony records, to a four-man group, but was later dissolved. He later joined another male R&B group for Hush Entertainment which eventually quickly became a producer / songwriting gig.
Other recordings to his credit include jingles for Solavita retirement community in Florida, Palm Beach College radio spot, and 2001 Flushes “Clip-On” TV and spots.
His TV and movie credits include performing on “Showtime at The Apollo “providing background vocals for El De Barge, and two cover tunes for the movie”One Eyed King”, starring William Baldwin, Chazz Palminterri, and Armad Assanti. The featured songs were, Shout- (Isley Brothers),and “ My Prayer- (The Platters).
Born in NJ, Kavon is no stranger to house music, in 1983 he was featured on lead on a compilation album entitled “This Is Garage Music”, featuring R&B and Club artists such as Candy Staton, Adeva and Money Love. He also can be heard as the male answer voice on house singer Kimiesha’s “Ups and Downs”. In 2018 he released a single entitled “Love Joy and Happiness” on CIMA records. His next recording was released in 2020 entitled “Baby Come Close” a cover of Smokey Robinson’s original song produced by house DJ Tony Vee.
On the rap sector he can be heard on various samples for the rapper Yung Gravy, some tracks include “Betty (Get Money)”
